Insertion fees and free listing allowances vary across eBay marketplaces. Each country operates as a separate selling environment, with its own fee structure, Store subscription options, and listing limits.
Because of this, the cost of listing the same product can differ depending on where you sell. This guide explains how insertion fees work and what to consider when you calculate your listing costs.
ℹ️ eBay fee structures can change over time. The info in this guide is accurate as of April 22, 2026. Before making pricing or listing decisions, it is always a good idea to check the official eBay website for the latest information.
Insertion fees in the US market #
Insertion fees are driven mainly by your store subscription and how many listings you publish beyond your monthly allowance on eBay.
Every Store plan includes a set number of zero insertion fee listings each month. Once this limit is used, a fee applies per listing.
| Store type | Auction-style listings | Fixed price listings |
| Starter | 250 free / $0.30 | |
| Basic | 250 (select categories) / $0.25 | - 1,000 all categories / $0.25 - 10,000 select categories / $0.25 |
| Premium | 500 (select categories) / $0.15 | - 10,000 all categories / $0.10 - 50,000 select categories / $0.10 |
| Anchor | 1,000 (select categories) / $0.10 | - 25,000 all categories / $0.05 - 75,000 select categories / $0.05 |
| Enterprise | 2,500 (select categories) / $0.10 | - 100,000 all categories / $0.05 - 100,000 select categories / $0.05 |
Once your free allowance is used:
- Fees apply per listing and per category
- Fees are charged again when listings are relisted
- Fees are non-refundable, even if the item doesn’t sell
- Duplicate auction-style listings may trigger additional charges and policy restrictions
Insertion fees in the international markets #
For business sellers, the differences are material at scale:
| Marketplace | Free listings (monthly) | Insertion fee (after limit) |
| UK | store-dependent | £0.30 per listing |
| Canada | ~200 | CA $0.30 per listing |
| Germany | store-dependent | - €0.35 per 1 fixed-priced listing - €0.50 per 1 auction-style listing |
| France | store-dependent | - €0.30 per 1 fixed-priced listing - €0.40 per 1 auction-style listing |
| Spain | store-dependent | - €0.35 per 1 fixed-priced listing - €0.50 per 1 auction-style listing |
| Italy | store-dependent | - €0.35 per 1 fixed-priced listing - €0.50 per 1 auction-style listing |
| Australia | up to 250,000* | AU $1.50 per listing |
*High allowances apply primarily to sellers registered in Australia.
What this means for business sellers:
- Listing costs scale differently depending on the target market
- High-volume catalogs benefit from markets with larger free allowances
- Cross-border expansion increases operational complexity, not just reach
These fees apply once your monthly zero insertion fee allowance is exceeded. Fees are charged per listing, per category, and on each relist.

- Certain categories are fully exempt, including Guitars & Basses and Athletic Shoes priced at $150 or more
