Amazon FBA can save time on storage, shipping, customer service, and returns. But that convenience comes with several costs.
For sellers with large catalogs, even a small fee increase can affect pricing and profit across hundreds of products. Storage costs can also rise when inventory moves slowly or stays in Amazon fulfillment centers for too long.
This guide breaks down the main Amazon FBA fees in the US, so you can plan costs before sending inventory to Amazon.
ℹ️ All fee information is accurate as of July 13, 2026. Check Amazon’s official fee pages for the latest rates and policy changes.
How Are Amazon FBA Fees Calculated in the US? #
Amazon calculates FBA fees based on each product and how it moves through the fulfillment network.
Your costs may depend on:
- the product’s dimensions and weight;
- whether it is apparel or non-apparel;
- the product’s selling price;
- the amount of storage space it uses;
- how long it remains in stock;
- whether peak-season or extra service fees apply.
Most sellers need to account for three main cost groups:
- Fulfillment costs – fees for processing and shipping each order.
- Storage costs – monthly charges for inventory stored by Amazon.
- Additional FBA costs – fees for services or inventory conditions that fall outside standard fulfillment and storage.
These fees can vary from one SKU to another. A small, fast-selling product may have a very different cost structure from a bulky or slow-moving item.
FBA Fulfillment Fees #
FBA fulfillment fees apply to every unit Amazon packs and ships.
The cost can change based on:
- product weight;
- product dimensions;
- size tier;
- product type;
- and selling price.
Peak rates and extra surcharges may also apply.

FBA Storage Fees #
Amazon charges monthly fees for storing FBA inventory.
The rate can change based on:
- product dimensions;
- storage volume;
- product category;
- season;
- and inventory age.
Peak-season rates and aged inventory charges may increase the total cost.

Other FBA Costs in the US #
FBA sellers may pay more than fulfillment and storage fees. Extra charges can apply when stock stays in storage too long, is returned, or moves in and out of Amazon’s network.
Common charges include:
- Aged inventory surcharge – applies to inventory stored for more than 181 days and is charged on top of monthly storage fees.
- Returns processing fee – may apply when Amazon covers the cost of return shipping for the buyer.
- Removal order fees – apply when you ask Amazon to return, discard, or liquidate inventory. Fees are charged per unit.
- Inbound placement service fee – covers the cost of moving inventory to fulfillment centers closer to customers. Rates can vary by size tier, weight, shipment setup, and receiving region.
To keep costs under control, review inventory age and sell-through often. Act early on slow stock, check return trends, and compare inbound placement options before sending inventory.
