What do Amazon MCF fees cover #
MCF fees include all the steps Amazon takes to deliver an order:
- Storing your inventory in Amazon’s fulfillment centers
- Picking and packing the item
- Shipping it to the buyer
These services are billed per unit and depend on the item’s size, weight, and the shipping speed.

Fulfillment fees #
This is the main cost you’ll see. It’s based on:
- Size tier (e.g., standard, bulky, extra-large)
- Weight
- Delivery speed (standard: 3-5 days, expedited: 2 days)
If a customer orders multiple units, MCF offers discounted per-unit pricing for multi-item shipments.

Storage fees #
Amazon charges monthly storage fees based on how much space your products take up in their warehouses. These fees vary depending on:

- Season (rates increase during peak months, such as October through January)
- Overall warehouse usage

Additional fees and surcharges #
Here are some extra costs to be aware of:
- Remote area delivery: Shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or other remote regions may double or triple the cost, depending on item size.
- Carrier restrictions: If you choose to block Amazon Logistics from fulfilling orders, you’ll be charged a 5% fee on those orders.
- Inbound and removal fees: Costs for sending inventory to or removing it from fulfillment centers are the same as under Amazon FBA.
- Holiday surcharges: During busy seasons (October-January), temporary increases are applied to cover higher operational costs.

Q1: Are MCF fees the same as FBA fees? #
Not exactly. MCF and FBA fees share the same storage rates and fulfillment process (picking, packing, shipping). However, MCF typically comes with higher fulfillment fees, often 30% to 50% more. That’s because MCF handles orders from non-Amazon sales channels and doesn’t benefit from Prime shipping discounts.
But, unlike FBA, MCF doesn’t charge referral fees, so you're only paying for storage and fulfillment.

No, Shopify doesn’t charge any fees for using Amazon MCF. All fulfillment-related costs come directly from Amazon when you use their services to ship orders from Shopify or other platforms.
