Product Description is Too Long

This error occurs when Temu rejects a product listing or update because the product description exceeds Temu’s allowed limit of 2,000 characters.

How to fix the error #

Step 1. Identify affected listings #

Go to the Temu Listings tab in the app and find the products affected by the error.

To filter them quickly, click the Groups icon (folder icon). Then, select Action Required > Errors, and click on the relevant error message.

Step 2. Review the Description Policy #

Once you’ve identified the affected products, the next step is to review and adjust the Description Policy associated with those listings.

1) Click the affected Temu item and open the product card.

2) Navigate to the Policies tab. Click the eye icon next to the Description Policy.

3) Inside the policy template, find the Product Description section. Here, you can choose the source that M2E uses to pull the product description for your Temu listing.

Step 3. Set the product description #

M2E Multichannel Connect offers multiple sources for product descriptions. Review the one you’re currently using and ensure it complies with Temu’s description requirements.

1) Default Description

Uses the default product description from your Store or Catalog.

If selected, ensure your store's default description for this product is under 2,000 characters.

2) Short Description

Uses the Short Description field from your Store or Catalog.

If selected, make sure the Short Description for this product in your store is also under 2,000 characters.

3) Attribute

Uses a specified attribute from your Store or Catalog as the source.

If selected, confirm that the value of the selected attribute is under 2,000 characters.

Step 4. Relist products to apply changes #

After updating the description in your Description Policy, save your changes and relist the products to push the update to Temu:

1) Select the affected Temu products in the Listings tab.

2) In the mass actions menu, click the List button.
