Map Store Categories to Channel Categories

1 min read

When creating new listings in M2E Multichannel Connect, you choose how products from your store are assigned to channel categories. One option is to map your store categories to channel categories. You can set up the category mappings once, and they apply automatically to all the products you are listing.

This guide covers how to set up and manage store-to-channel category mappings during the listing process.

Step 1. Choose the mapping option #

In the listing process, select Map store categories to channel categories during the category selection step.

M2E Cloud Get Mapped Categories

Click Get mapped categories to let M2E check which store categories your selected products use and whether any mappings already exist. You will see one of two results:

  • Mapping summary – selected products already have mappings in place. M2E shows how many will go to each channel category, and you can skip ahead to step 3.
  • Category mappings required – some of the selected products use store categories that aren't mapped yet. You will need to set those mappings up before continuing.

Step 2. Set up mapping #

You will see the list of your store categories that need to be mapped. Follow the steps below:

1) For each listed store category, click Choose category to open the category picker.

2) Pick a matching channel category. You can select one from your existing Category Policies, browse the channel's category tree, or search by title or ID.

3) If prompted, set up the category attributes, then save your choice.

4) Repeat for every store category in the list.

A few important points to keep in mind:

  • One mapping per store category. Each store category can only be mapped to one channel category. Once it is mapped, it won't appear in the list of unmapped categories again.
  • Products in multiple store categories. If a product belongs to more than one store category, it is treated as mapped as long as at least one of those categories has a mapping. If a product matches multiple mappings, the channel category is assigned on a first-match basis.

Step 3. Continue to listing #

When all selected products have a channel category, you can click List Now to proceed with the listing process or Save as Draft to resume later.
