This guide will walk you through the process of creating new listings on Walmart US marketplace via M2E Multichannel Connect.
💡 Watch a video tutorial on how to create new listings on Walmart.
Step 1. Access Walmart items. #
Navigate to the Listings tab. Choose your Walmart account and click List New Items in the top right corner of the page.

Step 2. Choose items’ policies. #
Define the policies for your listings, including necessary settings for pricing, quantity, and synchronization with Walmart. You can either select from pre-existing policies or create new ones tailored to your selling strategy.

With Selling Policy, you can set the price and quantity settings for your Walmart listings.
Synchronization Policy helps you define how the app should synchronize your listings between your store and Walmart.
Shipping settings #
Specify Shipping Template and Warehouse for your listings. This information isn't required to create a listing, but Walmart recommends that you provide it to ensure buyers receive accurate delivery details.
Select from the shipping templates and warehouses created in your Walmart Seller Center. Click Refresh to update and load the latest data from Walmart.
To create a new shipping template, click the “+” (plus) icon and set it up in Walmart.
ℹ️ Walmart treats the Shipping Template and Warehouse as linked settings. Make sure to set both so Walmart can correctly calculate delivery options and shipping rates.
Product ID settings #
In the Barcode Source section, specify how the product identifier (GTIN, UPC, etc.) should be provided. By default, M2E uses the barcode from your store's product data, but you can switch to another attribute or enter the value manually.
You can list products without barcodes if Walmart has approved a GTIN/UPC exemption for the selected Product Type. Request the exemption in your Walmart Seller Center, then enable it in M2E once approved. See step 5 of this guide for details.
⚠️ Walmart uses product identifiers to match items with its catalog and improve search visibility. Listings with missing or invalid barcodes will be rejected, so ensure each product has a valid GTIN/UPC or an approved exemption.
Step 3. Select products to list. #
Select Simple or Variational items from your store to list on Walmart. Use the Quick Search field to find your items by title, price, quantity, or other parameters. Once all the items are selected, click Next.

Step 4. Set the Walmart Product Type. #
Choose a Walmart Product Type that suits your products best. If the app suggests a fitting Product Type, you can confirm it immediately or change it if necessary.

You can select a previously used Product Type or switch to the Search tab to find it manually by Walmart Product Type name or ID. Once selected, save the changes.

⚠️ Please note that when creating a listing, you're adding it to the root category, while Walmart assigns the subcategories automatically.
Step 5. Define attributes. #
Once you’ve selected the Product Type, make sure to set required and recommended attributes to make it easier for shoppers to find your items. Then, confirm the changes.
ℹ️ By default, the app will use predefined product attributes from your store. You can select a different attribute or a metafield that contains a relevant value. Another option you have is to enter a custom value for your attribute.

When defining attributes, you can also set up Walmart multi-container attributes, which allow you to provide even more precise product information. For example, if you sell clothing, you can use these attributes to define the fabric types and their precise percentages included in your product.

✅ With Walmart multi-container attributes, you increase the chances of appearing in filtered search results and specific queries, as customers often search using precise criteria to find exactly what they need.
If you have a GTIN/UPC exemption for specific Product Types, you can list your products without identifier data on Walmart. Click on the “I have a GTIN exemption for this Product Type“ toggle when setting attributes for your Walmart listings.

✅ At any time, you can change the Product Type and add/edit specifics per item in the product card under the General section. To access the product card, click on the item in the grid.
When listing Variational items on Walmart, it is required to link variant attributes for the Product Type. A pop-up window will appear where you can set a correspondence between the Variant Attribute(s) of your store and Walmart.

✅ At any time, you can change the Product Type and add/edit Attributes. For that, select the needed products and click Change Settings > Change Product Type from the mass actions menu.
Once the attributes are set, proceed to the next step.
Step 6. Make your listings public #
When your listings are complete and ready to go live, click the "List Now" button to submit your items to Walmart for review. Be aware of Walmart's approval process, as listings may be subject to review before going live.
If you prefer not to list items immediately but want to save your progress, click "Save as Draft". Your items will be stored as drafts in your Walmart Listings, and you can publish them with a single click at a later time.
⚠️ If you try to sell a product listed as “Draft” in your store, it will not appear on the marketplace and will be marked as “Incomplete”. Updating the product's status in your store to “Draft” or “Hidden” will deactivate the marketplace listing without deleting it.
To make the product available on the marketplace again, change its status back to “Active” in your store.
